Netflix to develop Way Station

I have been a huge Clifford D. Simak fan since I was a kid and I remember Way Station as a great story. If Netflix develops this into a series it’ll be a dream come true! In a press release, Netflix has confirmed that they’ve secured the rights with 6th and Idaho. So, even if they were to find a writer today, we’re looking at 2021 at the earliest before we see anything from this. Still, how awesome!

Resident Alien

I was a fan of Alan Tudyk’s acting in Firefly, so when I heard that he had his own series in the works I became very excited. Apparently Resident Alien has already been filmed and is set to screen very soon. Alan appeared at the NYCC to talk about it. Sci Fi Wire has a report here

Battlestar Galactica 2020

A new spinoff is in the works, set during the time of the previous Battlestar Galactic, but with completely new characters. While the original series ended with the theme of completing their goal, this series will explore another side to the conflict. Mooted for April 2020, this would be a boon for NBC Universal. Deadline has more here.

The War of the Worlds BBC Trailer

Even though it is set in the far past, it looks pretty good! Trailer here

Lost in Space S2 Trailer

Not every series is waiting for 2020. Lost in Space will start on 24th December on Netflix. Trailer here

Portals

Comprehensive article by Gizmodo here. In summary, portals like the monoliths from 2001: A Space Odyssey start appearing all over Earth (and all over various parallel Earths) and people start simply going through them. However, this is less an exploration film and more of a horror film. If you’re strong enough; trailer here

Hoganthology

A new title has been released by Maldek House – a collection of stories by science fiction author Neil A. Hogan. Not only does this ebook have 800 pages of crazy, unbelievable stories (depending on your device) it has also been released to help raise funds for Alien Dimensions #19.
